It took me a while but I finally saw it.... Don’t click if you haven’t seen it yet.
For those who haven’t seen it yet, spoilers come after the jump.
The one scene that really got me wasn’t so much the death of Han Solo in itself, but rather seing Chewie fly the Millenium Falcon without Solo. Seing him back in his seat without Han next to him, flying like nothing happened, that was, for me, the lip-bite-dont-cry-nope-you-wont part of the movie.
I was expecting more from the end of Han though, a bit desappointed with the way he died... No?

It surprised me in one sense, but as soon as it happened, I thought, “oh, so that’s how they got Harrison Ford to agree to this.”

He is 73 and flys/crashes WW2 trainer planes for a hobby. I’m sure he wanted to kill Han Solo for a long time just so that people stop annoying him with that... If he could have killed Indiana Jones I’m pretty sure he would have done that too :)
He is enough of s badass IRL to be assimilated to Han Solo or Indiana Jones for the rest of his life :)

The Death of Han Solo was a real sore spot for my son. He was totally into the movie the whole time. He was on the edge of his seat and getting super excited about almost the whole story. Han dies and the whole movie is ruined.
I asked him at the end, “what did you think bud?”
“Meh. It is the worst Star Wars yet.”
Me, “what?!?!”
“Dad, Han died. I hated it.”
To be fair, he is 6 and Han is/was his favorite character.

The original plan for Return of the Jedi was for Han to fly the Falcon into the Death Star and not make it out. he was bummed they didn’t do it then. Ford has been more positive about his work since the plane crash.

1st half wonderful origin story for new characters. 2nd half was a cliche of previous movies, ie blow up big super weapon and kill off a good character. I was looking for something with a bit more substance.

The ending disappointed me.
There was also a bit of star trek in it as per all the external lightspeed shots....jj abrams isnt bad, in fact I think he did very good, but im just not sure. Overall it was good, dont get me wrong, I just feel like star was and star trek need more separation to retain their identities.

In my opinion, the Milllenium Falcon should not have outlived Han Solo. If they wanted to kill off Han, then the Falson should have been shot down with him in it.

This. They certainly crashed it hard enough on the Starkiller Base planet. Having it crash and them having to steal a ship - Kylo Ren’s shuttle would be cool - would have been much more poignant.

For me the most emotional part is when Finn tells BB8 that Poe is dead. Like how can you not want to give the little guy a huge.

His death wishes started in ESB! I knew it was part of the deal as soon as I heard he was in the movie.
